単独世界一周レースの最高峰であるBOC、現在アラウンド・アローン(Around Alone)に
に三回出場し、日本で最も世界の海を航行しているヨットマン。航行距離24万海里以上。
ヨット人口の少ない日本では無名だが、1998−9年第6回アラウンド・アローンレース終了時の
表彰式で欧米のヨット界は彼に「スプリット・オブ・アラウンド・アローン」の称号を与えた。
60歳を超えて単独世界一周レースに三回も挑戦し、過酷なレースで多くの挑戦者が
リタイアする中、すべてのレースで完走した、そのチャレンジ・スピリットは高く評価された。
2005年6月6日19時2分 ヨット単独無寄港世界一周を、234日約５万キロかけて
最高齢（71歳）記録を達成されました。（TVニュースにて放映）
